Buncheong ware bowl with bunjang pattern
![]()
This bowl was made by the buncheong dipping technique, in which the whole vessel is plunged into water mixed with white slip and then glazed. Because the potter held the foot and dipped it upside down, the white slip did not reach the area around the foot, creating a natural contrast with the grayish-black body, while the trickling marks of the slip lend an unaffected charm. A broad brownish-black stain caused by iron spreads across the inner base, adding further character.
