Buncheong ware flask with iron-brown underglaze peony design

This is a janggun, a barrel-shaped vessel with an oval foot. The body was thickly coated with white slip in vertical strokes, then bold wave patterns were drawn in iron-brown pigment around the mouth and foot, while a large, fully opened peony was painted on the body. The deep grayish-black design contrasts sharply with the white slip, giving a strikingly bold and splendid impression.
