This gilded ornamental object was found in 1959 inside a stone reliquary box placed in the second story of the five-story brick pagoda at Songnimsa Temple in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province, during repairs. Tree-like stems and branches extend symmetrically, each ending in a jewel (boju) shape; the whole was slightly folded at the center to form a ridge and hung with more than two hundred small round spangles. The lower part is likewise folded lengthwise into a ridge, apparently so that it could be inserted into another object. Though a splendid and lustrous gilt ornament, its exact use remains unknown.
