Celadon Incense Burner with Openwork Chilbo Pattern
![]()
This incense burner is regarded as one of the masterpieces representing Goryeo celadon. It consists of a lid through which the incense smoke escapes, a body where the incense is burned, and a base that supports them—parts of differing shapes joined according to their functions into a single, integrated form. In it, a variety of techniques are harmoniously combined: incising, relief carving, openwork, slip-dotting (toehwa), inlay, and applied relief (cheophwa).
