Celadon Incense Burner with Openwork Chilbo Pattern
![]()
This incense burner is one of the masterpieces of Goryeo celadon and is designated a National Treasure. It consists of a lid through which the smoke escapes, a body where the incense is burned, and a stand that supports them, so that three differently shaped parts are brought together into a single object suited to its function. Moreover, a variety of decorative techniques—incising, relief carving, openwork, slip-dotting, inlay, and applied relief—are harmoniously combined, demonstrating the high level of Goryeo celadon craftsmanship.
