Chunchu

One of the Five Classics of Confucianism, the Chunqiu (Spring and Autumn Annals) is the earliest chronicle-style history, comprising some 1,800 entries and about 16,500 characters. It records the events of 242 years under twelve dukes, from Duke Yin to Duke Ai of the state of Lu during the Spring and Autumn period. Its text is usually based on the Zuo Commentary (Zuozhuan), and in Korea too the Chunqiu Zuozhuan was regarded as a major Confucian classic from the Three Kingdoms period onward. This edition was printed in 1797 (21st year of King Jeongjo) using the wooden movable type called Chunchugangja, made at the Jujaso type foundry.
