Jade Bi Disc

This is a semi-translucent, light-brown jade disc (bi) with slight mottling, made during the Nangnang (Lelang) period. The patterns on the front and back are identical: a whorl design fills the inner zone, while four pairs of dragons are carved around the outer band. The dragons' horns curl into rounded spirals filled with fine incised lines, showing remarkable refinement. It was excavated from the chest area of the deceased within the wooden coffin of Tomb No. 9 at Seogam-ri, Pyongyang.
