Red-burnished earthenware
![]()
This is a burnished red pottery vessel of the Bronze Age, excavated from the Sambong-ri site in Onseong-gun, North Hamgyong Province. Shaped from fine clay, its surface was coated with iron oxide and carefully polished before firing, giving it a red sheen. It takes the form of a short-necked jar, with four knob handles set at regular intervals around the middle of the body. It is a distinctive type of burnished red pottery found in the Tumen River basin.
