Tax Token for Jokduri Shop
![]()
This tablet is believed to have been used for tax collection by the Pyeongsiseo, the late Joseon office that oversaw licensed market shops. It appears to have been worn while collecting taxes from shops under the jokduri-jeon—a store selling jokduri, traditional ceremonial headpieces—in Hanseong (Seoul). One side is inscribed 'Jokduri-jeon tax tablet,' and the other reads 'Pyeongsiseo, ninth month of the gyemyo year' together with the signature of a Pyeongsiseo official, showing that it was made by the office in the ninth month of a gyemyo year.
