White Porcelain Moon Jar
![]()
This Joseon white porcelain jar is called a 'moon jar' because its round, full shape resembles the full moon. The body is not perfectly spherical but forms a soft, generous roundness, and one side sank slightly during firing. The diameter of the upright foot is a little narrower than that of the mouth; coated with a clear white glaze almost free of any bluish tinge, the surface is close to milky white with large crackle in places. It is regarded as a handsome jar that epitomizes the beauty of Joseon white porcelain, summed up by its clear white color and generous, rounded form.
